    Hi @Simons26,

    Thanks for your question.

Whether you'll be charged depends on which country you're in.

    • If you're travelling in one of our Inclusive Roaming destinations, receiving text messages from UK numbers is free.
    • If you're travelling in a country not included in Inclusive Roaming, or you're referring to texts involving non-UK numbers, charges may apply depending on the destination.

You can check whether your destination is included in Inclusive Roaming here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/roaming

You can also view our roaming charges for destinations outside of Inclusive Roaming here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/roaming-charges and here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/call-abroad

    Regards,

I am in the UAE, I understand receiving a text message incurs a charge of 60p - is that correct? Does receiving a text also incur a roaming charge even though I have roaming turned off?

    Hi @Sma1975,

Yes, while you're in the UAE, receiving a text message can be chargeable if you're connected to a roaming network and have a bill cap or available out-of-plan spend on the account.

Even if you have data roaming turned off, the network can still deliver SMS messages to your phone, and receiving those messages can incur a charge while roaming in destinations such as the UAE.

If you'd like to avoid any unexpected charges, we'd recommend setting your bill cap to £0 before travelling.
