Roam beyond Turkey not working

I know this has been posted a lot lately in the community. I have followed all that guidance (actually having to relay that info to my brother who is the one actually in Turkey, but I sort his phone tariff out for him), tried manually setting network (with some conflicting info on Comm posts and partner network lists - Turk Telecom, Vodafone and Avea, set services up for roaming, international calls, bill cap altered, etc. phone is setup for roaming too

Still no mobile data however.

Hi @cegginton,

Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m sorry to hear your brother is still having issues getting mobile data working in Turkey despite all the troubleshooting already completed.

It does sound like you’ve already covered many of the common fixes, so we completely understand how frustrating this must be.

For Turkey, we’d generally recommend manually connecting to:

  • Turk Telekom
  • Turkcell
  • AVEA

As network performance can vary by location, it’s worth trying each one individually rather than leaving the phone on Automatic selection.

We’d also recommend the following additional steps if not already completed:

  • Restart the handset after each network change
  • Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 30 seconds, then OFF
  • Ensure Data Roaming is switched ON
  • Confirm mobile data itself is enabled
  • Remove and reinsert the SIM card if possible
  • Make sure that you have all the correct features enabled on your iD Mobile account, such as Roaming, International and Premium.

If the phone is Android, we’d also strongly recommend performing a full network reset:

  • Settings > General Management/System > Reset > Reset Network Settings

For iPhone:

  • Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Please note this will remove saved WiFi and Bluetooth connections.

If the issue still continues after trying all available partner networks and the network reset, we’d recommend contacting our Live Chat team so they can investigate the roaming services directly on the line: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

We hope this gets resolved for him as quickly as possible.

Regards,

All resolved now thanks. Just to note that the bill cap has to be altered to allow the maximum available and to select the correct network too, even though all three networks were tried Turk Telecom seemed to be the only one that worked.

Hi @cegginton.

We’re sorry to hear your brother is still having issues connecting while in Turkey, especially after you’ve already tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps. We understand how frustrating this must be, particularly when you’ve been relaying all the information and trying different network settings without success.

We have recently seen a similar issue reported by another customer travelling in Turkey, and in their case, downloading and activating an eSIM helped restore their roaming services successfully.

If your brother’s device is eSIM compatible, it may be worth trying this option as an alternative to the physical SIM. Before doing so, please ensure he is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network so the eSIM can be downloaded and activated correctly.

We appreciate all the troubleshooting you’ve already completed, and we hope this helps get him connected again as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Marquerita
