Question

Roaming

I visited Turkey in July and Montenegro last week and in both cases despite not appearing to have internet and these countries included in the 59 countries,.my bill was £60 in those months instead of £15

I received no notification this would occur and am very angry about it. Roaming is meant to be I cluded.

Also, app is rubbish to find anythinf, e.g add a price cap to bill, look at an overseas esim

You can't contact anyone either

    Hi @David1973,

I’m sorry to hear about the unexpected charges, and I completely understand why this has been frustrating.

Turkey and Montenegro are not included within our Inclusive Roaming destinations, so your standard UK allowances don’t apply there, iD Mobile have 50 inclusive countries, instead of the 59 which you’ve mentioned. While both destinations may have Roam Beyond options available, these are separate data-only add-ons that need to be purchased. Without an applicable add-on, chargeable roaming usage can apply.

From the amount you’ve described, it also sounds as though you had a Bill Cap in place. Your Bill Cap limits how much additional out-of-plan usage can be charged, but it doesn’t prevent charges unless it’s set to £0.

Roaming charges outside our Inclusive Roaming destinations can build up very quickly, particularly if your phone connects to mobile data and begins using data in the background.

For future travel, we strongly recommend checking whether your destination is included before travelling, reviewing the applicable roaming rates and setting your Bill Cap to £0 if you don’t want any chargeable roaming usage.
