Roaming Data Cap 30GB or not?

Hi - I’m reading some conflicting info here and on the website. I’m roaming in Spain. I was under the impression that my data limit is capped at 30GB whilst roaming. However, I’ve read here that there is no cap. Which is correct?

Hi @jon770577

There is no longer a 30GB cap on roaming abroad if you are in any of our 50 EU roaming countries. You can use your data allowance just like you would in the UK.

For example, if you have an unlimited data plan, you can use your unlimited data while in Spain

Has this changed from last year? I also have a 30gb monthly tariff. Last year I went to France and germany for 12 weeks and you stopped my service stating it was against your "fair usage policy" iv think I had used 15gb

I am coming to France again this year for 9 weeks.  Will my service be cut off again or not as I need to be in contact with my customers.

Hi @Sdcastle,

Thanks for getting in touch.

At the moment, the EU roaming data limit restriction has been lifted, meaning you should currently be able to use your normal monthly data allowance whilst roaming in included EU destinations, such as France and Germany.

So, for example, if your plan includes 30GB of data, you should be able to use up to your available allowance whilst abroad.

It’s therefore unlikely that your service would be restricted purely for using 15GB of data. It’s possible that the issue experienced previously may have been related to network connection, roaming registration, or the specific network connected to at the time.

When you arrive in France, we’d recommend manually connecting to one of the preferred partner networks such as:

  • Orange
  • Free Mobile
  • Bouygues Telecom (BYTEL)

We’d also recommend:

  • Restarting the device on arrival
  • Ensuring Data Roaming is enabled
  • Performing a network reset if the service does not connect correctly

We hope you have a safe trip and that your roaming works much more smoothly this time around.

Regards,
