Roaming in Canada

I will be spending up to 3 months in Canada. My current plan has unlimited data, messages and calls. What do I need to know and do in advance of my trip?

We hope you have a great trip to Canada.

 

Please note that Canada is not included within the EU inclusive roaming destinations, so your UK allowances for unlimited data, calls, and texts would not be included whilst abroad and standard roaming charges would apply unless you purchase a roaming add-on.

 

We currently offer the following roaming data add-ons for Canada:

  • 2GB – Valid for 1 day – £5
  • 10GB – Valid for 5 days – £20
  • 20GB – Valid for 10 days – £35

Standard roaming charges in Canada without an add-on are:

  • Calls to UK* – £6.00 per minute
  • Calls to Canada* – £6.00 per minute
  • Calls received* – £1.50 per minute
  • Texts to Canada** – £1.20 per text
  • Texts to UK** – £1.20 per text
  • Picture Messages (MMS) sent** – £0.60
  • Internet and Data*** – £9.60 per MB
     

*Price per minute

** Please note: MMS charges vary. For further information, refer to the Terms & Conditions. If you joined or upgraded on or before 20th June 2023, the MMS cost is £0.30 per message for roaming within EU Bands 1 and 2.

*** Data is charged or deducted in one kilobyte (KB) increments and any part KB used will be rounded up to the nearest KB.

 

Before travelling, please also ensure:

  • Roaming is disabled on the iD Mobile app
  • Data Roaming is disabled on the handset
  • Your Bill Cap is set appropriately to £0 avoid unexpected out-of-plan charges

Hi,

Many thanks for your response.

I have disabled roaming on my handset.

I don’t know how to set my Bill Cap to £0. Is this something you can do for me?

I have downloaded the ID Mobile App to my phone but I can’t see a facility for disabling roaming on the app. Can you please advise how I do this? I have managed to disable roaming on my handset.

It's great to hear that you have already disabled roaming on your handset.

 

You can manage this yourself through the iD Mobile app by following these steps:

  • Log in to the iD Mobile app
  • Select Services
  • Choose Manage Bill Cap
  • Set your Bill Cap to £0
  • Confirm the change

To manage roaming on your iD Mobile account through the app:

  • Log in to the iD Mobile app
  • Select Services
  • Choose Roaming
  • Toggle roaming ON or OFF as required
