Question

Roaming in Montenegro- id charges

I am in Montenegro, I’ve turned data roaming off, not sending texts, not making calls, using WiFi . I’ve received one call for about 30 seconds.

I'm getting messages from ID saying I am now using chargeable services. What am I missing? What else do I need to turn off to avoid further charges?

any advice greatly appreciated

    Hi @Namerequirementsaresilly,

The message you’ve received would be correct, as Montenegro isn’t included within our Inclusive Roaming destinations.

Even if you’ve switched data roaming off and aren’t intentionally making calls or sending texts, the call you received is still chargeable while roaming in Montenegro. Calls made or received are charged at the applicable roaming rate.

It’s also possible for other chargeable activity to occur while abroad, such as background mobile data or messaging services, depending on your handset settings.

To prevent any further unexpected charges, we strongly recommend setting your Bill Cap to £0.00:

    1. Log in to the iD Mobile app.
    2. Go to Bills.
    3. Select Manage bill cap.
    4. Set your Bill Cap to £0.00.
    5. Save the changes.

We’d also recommend considering a local SIM while you’re in Montenegro, particularly if you need to make calls, send messages or use data regularly, as this may be considerably more cost-effective.

You can check the current roaming charges for Montenegro here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/roaming
