Hi, we are travelling to Turkey and I am planning on buying a 10 day roam beyond add-on, will I be able to share my data with my family using personal hotspot on my phone?

I also want to check that if the rest of my family have their bill cap set to £0 and have turned off roaming in the id mobile app and the phone setting they won’t get any additional charges.

Hey @eNJayBe

Hope you have a lovely time abroad with your family, Turkey is amazing and in June/July the weather should be awesome!🌞

Your Roam beyond add-on will become active as soon as you purchase it and last for the entirety of the period (e.g. 20 days) or when the data has been fully used, whichever comes first.

You can indeed use hotspot with your data, just note that the add-on can deplete much quicker with multiple users sharing.

Manage your plans 📱

Before you can manage the plans you’ll need to log into the account on my.idmobile.co.uk or via the iD Mobile App. Each number needs to be connected to an account to manage.

The good news is you can connect multiple iD Mobile numbers to one account if you want to manage them all in one place. Just click on “View your plans” located in the top right corner (you can also use this screen to manage/switch plans). Then “Add new plan” to add a new number.

Alternatively, each user can register for their own account and connect their number to their account.

Once this is done you can perform the following:

Set a bill cap 🔒

Head to the “Bills” section and then scroll down till you see “Manage bill cap”.
Simply adjust the slider to £0 and hit “Save” to confirm. Do this for each number or ask each user to set their caps. It’s a good idea to also do this for your plan to avoid any  Roaming charges if the add-on does get used up.

Disable Roaming 🌐🛑

Head to the “Plan” section and scroll down till you see “Manage your iD services”.
From here, you’ll find toggles and simply turn OFF the “Roaming” toggle to disable Roaming services. You don’t need to do this step on the plan that will have the roaming add-on.

With the caps set to £0 and Roaming turned off, you shouldn’t be able to connect to a network via Roaming, but they should still be able to connect to you via Hotspot using WiFi.

If you have any questions, let us know!
