Question

Send a text to a Tunisian mobile, keeps failing

I am in Tunisia, ID Mobile is set as my sim for sending and receiving messages. I need to send a text to a Tunisian mobile but it keeps failing despite having room in my bill cap. I have tried changing the prefix for Tunisia from 00216 to +216 and back and this makes no difference. Help!

    Hi @HelenLo,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble sending texts while in Tunisia.

    Please try the following:

    1. Make sure you're entering the number in the international format:
      • +216 followed by the Tunisian mobile number (without the leading 0, if there is one).
    2. Restart your phone.
    3. Turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then turn it off.
    4. Check that you're connected to a local roaming network and have signal.
    5. Make sure you're connected to one of our roaming partners in Tunisia:
      • Orange
      • Ooredoo
      • Tunisie Telecom
    6. Try manually selecting one of the above networks in your phone's network settings rather than using automatic network selection.
    7. Send a text to a UK mobile number to check whether the issue affects all outgoing texts or only Tunisian numbers.
    8. Make sure your bill cap is high enough to cover international roaming charges.

If you're still unable to send texts after trying these steps, please contact our Live Chat team so they can check whether there are any account restrictions affecting international SMS while roaming: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat
