Still being charged after buying a data roaming add-on

Hi,

I have travelled to Las Vegas and so I bought a 10day data roaming add on at the cost of £35.

However, I keep getting messages that I am using chargeable data and that I have now used 80% of my cap.

I logged in to my IDMobile account and the bill shows a ton of usage.

Why am I still being charged?

Thanks for getting in touch and we’re sorry to hear you’re having concerns with your roaming charges.

 

When using a roaming add-on, there are a few reasons you may still see usage warnings or additional charges on your account:

  • The add-on may not have fully registered before data roaming was used
  • Some background apps or services may still be using data outside of the add-on
  • The device may briefly connect to non-covered services before the add-on takes effect
  • Certain usage (such as MMS messages, texts, calls or background system updates) may not always be included in the add-on allowance

 

To help prevent any further unexpected charges while you’re abroad, we’d recommend setting your bill cap to £0.00. This will stop any additional chargeable usage outside of your allowance.
