unable to connect when in Europe or Ireland

Need technical support.

I've followed all the guides for being unable to roam properly (checked the app settings are correct using the same as my wife's - also an ID user on Android ). Made sure roaming is on and that I have a out of plan cap higher than £0.  I've switched off / on roaming changed auto carrier settings off/on, restarted the device.... Everything!! The phone connects to the carrier,  3Ireland or Vodafone IE and shows a strong 5G connection with the 'R' indicator.  But when I actually try to use any internet services the dreaded exclamation mark appears. I'm on a Google Pixel 10 up to date software.   This has been a recurring problem during overseas issues.

Please help? I mean someone from ID doing something, not just suggestions from other community users. I've tried everything!! This has to be Network operator issue.

Thanks.

Si.

Hi @lewisostle97 and @Simon Taylor,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties using your service while roaming, especially as it sounds like you've already worked through a lot of the usual troubleshooting steps.

Before we look at anything further, please could you check that roaming is enabled both on your device and on your iD Mobile account? For roaming to work correctly, the following features need to be switched on:

  • Roaming
  • International
  • Premium services

You can check and manage these by:

  1. Logging into the iD Mobile app or your online account.
  2. Going to Services.
  3. Selecting Manage my services.
  4. Ensuring Roaming, International and Premium are all enabled.

In addition, please make sure that Data Roaming is enabled within your Pixel's network settings.

If these settings are already enabled and you're still unable to use mobile data despite successfully connecting to a roaming partner network, please let us know and we can advise on the next steps.

We appreciate you've already spent time troubleshooting this and want to help get to the bottom of it.

Regards,

I eventually found the live chat pathway from the support options. Went through a few tests with the agent and was issued an eSIM which resolved the problem after proving that the issue wasn't with my device setup. It took an hour but was worthwhile. 🙂
