End of contract final fee

Hi

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before but I can’t see it.

If my contract ends on 26 May 2026 doesn’t the DD I paid on 13 May cover my airtime to the 26 May? So if I use a PAC on 22 May why would I be quoted an early termination fee (I understand any out of plan charges would be due)?

Thanks

Hi @If1

You would be quoted a termination fee as your contract only expires on 26/05/2026. I would suggest using the PAC code either the day before or on the day the contract expires.

Thanks Michael, however, my point is I have paid in advance for airtime to 26/05/26 so why pay an early termination charge for airtime I have already bought? If I used my PAC on, say, 01/06/26 then I have a few days more that I haven't paid for so I understand that.

I have just got my final bill and it has a termination fee dated 22/06/26 and a refund for the airtime 23/05/26 to 26/05/26 I have prepaid, but it still charges for an extra day - that I have l already paid for!

Hi @If1

Thank you for clarifying, and we do understand the point you are making.

Although your Direct Debit collected on 13/05/2026 covered airtime up to 26/05/2026, the account itself remained in contract until the contract end date. When a PAC is used before the minimum term fully expires, the system can automatically generate an early termination charge based on the remaining contractual period at the point the number transferred out.

Any airtime that had already been prepaid beyond the transfer date would then normally be credited back onto the final bill, which is why you can see the refund covering 23/05/2026 to 26/05/2026.

We appreciate why the additional charge may appear confusing, particularly where the dates are very close to the contract end date. Final bills can sometimes include charges and credits calculated on slightly different processing dates within the billing cycle.

Hi

Thanks for the further information. I’ve just spend half an hour with customer services on this point and it is now resolved, with me having been credited the outstanding amount to clear the final invoice.

This system is flawed in ID’s favour. In my situation where I am in the final month of my contract I have paid in advance to the end of my contract. I understand the system should generate an amount representing the early termination but in this instance the credit should be equal, resulting in a zero final invoice.

The amount was relatively trivial - a day’s line rental, but if ID is doing that a few hundred /thousand times a day it adds up.

Thanks
