Leaving and porting my number during cool off period

I'd like to cancel my contract within the 14 day cool off period (as my phone isn't compatible with iD mobile) but I'd like to make sure I keep my current phone number. How can I do that?

When I request a PAC code via text I get an email saying that I can't request a second code (presumably because I'm in the cool off period). There seems to be conflicting information online about cancelling my iD mobile account first and then requesting the PAC code afterwards, and I really don't want to lose my current phone number. How should I proceed?

I’m sorry to hear that your phone isn’t compatible with iD Mobile.

As you’re looking to cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period and keep your current number, the return process will need to be completed before you can use the PAC code.
