New customer here and I'm unable to make calls

Hello.  I moved to this mobile provider as I had poor service with my last provider, but now I cannot make phone calls as have no signal, even though the map says there is good signal where I live.  How do I cancel the 12 month contract I have signed up for as it is not fit for purpose?
