Question

Upgrade price more expensive than new customer web price

Hi,

Have just come to the end of my first 24 month contract with id mobile. Am a little amazed that if I look at my upgrade options for a honor magic 5 to upgrade and stay will be more expensive than someone joining as a new customer. I am quoted 55.99 with a 49 pound upfront fee as a new starter, but my upgrade is 59.99 with the same fee. Same data, term length etc.

Surely this can't be right. I was very happy to stay but clearly I will just need to move. How is this a good deal for me?

Thanks,

Hi @Joey3,

Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused when you were expecting a better deal as an existing customer.

The difference you’re seeing is actually down to how our pricing is structured. New customer offers are often based on introductory promotional pricing for base plans, whereas upgrade deals can vary depending on your previous device, usage history, and the specific upgrade path available at the time. Because of this, upgrade pricing isn’t always identical to new customer pricing, even when the data and contract length look the same.

That said, we do regularly review upgrade offers, and there may be other options available that aren’t shown online. You can reach them via iD Mobile Live Chat: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

They’ll be able to go through everything with you in real time and help find the best possible value for staying with iD Mobile.

Regards,
