Child now adult, need to change details

My daughter is now 18 yrs old and needs to take ownership of her account and billing. I can change to her email but can’t change to her name and direct debit from her account. I can’t change her number as she has 2FA on everything and will cause more problems than solves. Is there a way to start a new plan but with existing phone number?

Hi @Lisa123456 ,

I understand why you’d want everything properly set up now that your daughter is 18, especially with 2FA linked to her number,  that can make things quite sensitive to change.

Just to confirm, we’re not able to transfer or change the account holder name on an existing iD Mobile contract.

You do have a couple of options:

Option 1: Keep the existing account as it is, but update the billing details/email and manage it in her day-to-day name while the contract remains in your name
Option 2: Set up a new account in your daughter’s name, but this would come with a new mobile number, as we’re unable to move the existing number to a new account holder

I completely understand neither option is perfect in your situation, especially because of your daughter’s 2FA setup, but unfortunately we’re limited on what can be changed on active contracts.

Hi @Lisa123456

We do apologise for the inconvenience caused.

At the moment, we do not have a change of ownership process available, which means we’re unable to transfer an existing iD Mobile account into another person’s name or update the account holder details to your daughter’s name and bank account.

In order for your daughter to have the account fully in her own name, she would need to take out a new iD Mobile account herself.

Please also note that our system does not support internal number transfers between two iD Mobile accounts. This means the existing number cannot be moved directly from the current iD Mobile account to a new iD Mobile account.

To keep the existing number, the process would need to be completed as follows:

  • Request a PAC code from the current iD Mobile account
  • Transfer the number to another network first using a Pay As You Go SIM
  • Once the transfer completes successfully, request a PAC code from that temporary provider
  • Use that PAC code to move the number onto the new iD Mobile account in your daughter’s name

We appreciate this is not the most convenient process, especially where 2FA is linked to the number, however this would currently be the only available way to retain the number while opening a new account in your daughter’s name.
