Recently signed up. Got a sim mainly for data usage in the car. I have no problem with its efficiency, it works fine. Here's where it goes wrong. On creating an account I get through the email and password stage. I am then told an authentication code has been sent to the phone. The sim is not in a phone - it is in a mifi device that does not take calls or texts. I am told that I need to put the sim into a phone but I cannot hot swap the sim every time I need to log into my account. Getting precisely nowhere with the chatbot or live chat and, naturally, we peasants cannot talk to anyone on the phone. Ironic really for a communications based company, or am I just an old cynic. Singularly frustrated, I cannot believe this situation has not been encountered before. Fairly typical 'computer says no' attitude does not help. I asked if the code could be sent to my working phone and got a flat No.

    Hi @Bludray e,

I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused.

As the verification code needs to be sent to the iD Mobile number registered to the plan, we’d recommend temporarily removing the SIM from your MiFi device and inserting it into a compatible phone.

    Once inserted:

    1. Complete the account registration process.
    2. Receive and enter the verification code sent to the iD Mobile number.
    3. Once your account has been successfully registered, you can remove the SIM from the phone and put it back into your MiFi device.

Unfortunately, the verification code cannot be redirected to a different mobile number.

I fully understand the process, I am just questioning it. Most modern cars and all aftermarket radios have sims built in. There has got to be a simpler way to activate an account rather than this faff. I shall go and dismantle my radio, extract the sim and go through this rigmarole. Not happy about it, but if 'computer says no' I will have to endure it. Might I suggest that someone with some technical knowledge have a look at this process and come up with a less amateur solution to this relatively simple concept. I do not agree that your direction is the best solution, but I plainly will have to live with it. It also might be prudent to assume that the customer has a point at times rather than being wrong. I assume I am peeing in the wind, but how about a Customer Care phone number? Didn't think so!

    Hi @Bludray e,

I’m sorry for the frustration this process has caused, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback regarding the account activation process.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a Customer Service telephone line available. If you require further assistance, our Customer Service team can be contacted through Live Chat:

We appreciate your feedback regarding the verification process and understand why a simpler option would be preferable for customers using their SIM in devices such as in-car systems.

    Regards,
