Question

No OTP from Google coming through

Experiencing an issue where OTP/verification codes aren’t coming through to my iPhone 17 but it ONLY affects Google verification.

I am receiving banking and other app passcodes, although I’ve only tried a few so don’t know if it’s all or just some. But so far, every time I ask for a Google code it disappears into the aether and doesn’t come through.

Every Google account I have - for work and personal - none of them are sending me a verification code to the number despite having gone through all the steps and even changing from an eSim to a physical SIM.

everything worked fine before on my old iPhone and Skymobile plan.

This is seriously impacting aspects of my job, as accessing Google in integral.

  • Brand new iPhone 17 pro with a new iD Mobile plan as of June this year (previously with Sky, no issues)
  • I have deleted the e-sim from the phone to avoid any confusion
  • Have tried the physical sim in another iPhone but no difference
Feeling out of options at this stage.

    Hi @PatMac,

I’m sorry to hear you’re still unable to receive Google verification codes, especially as this is now affecting your work.

One thing I would recommend checking is the Premium setting. Although receiving OTPs is generally free, many OTPs are delivered using shortcodes, and having Premium services disabled can sometimes prevent these messages from reaching you.

    Please try the following:

    1. Open the iD Mobile app.
    2. Go to Plan.
    3. Select Manage your iD services.
    4. Enable Premium.
    5. Save the change.
    6. Restart your phone and request another Google verification code.

You can also try performing a manual network selection to refresh your connection:

    1. Go to Settings > Mobile Service > Network Selection.
    2. Switch Automatic OFF.
    3. Allow the available networks to load.
    4. Select iD Mobile/Three UK.
    5. Once connected, switch Automatic back ON.
    6. Restart the phone and try requesting another OTP.

As you’ve already tested a physical SIM in another iPhone and the issue is specifically affecting Google verification codes, if the above doesn’t resolve the issue, please contact our Live Chat team. They can complete the account-specific checks and raise a Technical Support ticket for the SMS/shortcode routing to be investigated where required.
