Question

sim not working

Hello, I've come back from holiday and wasn't using my SIM for about 3 weeks. When I came back and placed my SIM into my phone, it doesn't recognise it and stays on the icon that shows that no SIM is connected. Is there any reason why this has happened ?

    Hi @Sue_,

Thank you for getting in touch. I’m sorry to hear that your phone isn’t recognising your SIM after returning from holiday. I understand how inconvenient this must be, especially if you’re unable to use your mobile service.

There are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to see if they resolve the issue.

    1. Restart your phone
Switch your phone off completely, wait around 30 seconds, then turn it back on to see whether the SIM is recognised.

    2. Remove and reinsert your SIM card

    • Switch your phone off.
    • Carefully remove the SIM card from its tray.
    • Check the SIM for any visible damage, dirt or dust.
    • Gently wipe the SIM with a clean, dry cloth.
    • Reinsert the SIM correctly and switch your phone back on.

    3. Check whether the SIM or handset is causing the issue
If possible, try your iD Mobile SIM in another compatible, unlocked handset. You can also test another working SIM in your phone.

    • If your iD Mobile SIM is not recognised in another handset, the SIM may be faulty.
    • If another SIM is also not recognised in your phone, the issue may be with the handset or its SIM tray.

    4. Check your SIM settings
If you’re using a dual-SIM phone, open your mobile network or SIM settings and check whether the iD Mobile SIM is detected and enabled.

If your phone still displays “No SIM” after trying these steps, please contact our Live Chat team so they can assist you with arranging a replacement SIM. You can reach them here:

    https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Alternatively, you can visit your nearest Currys store and request a replacement SIM free of charge.

If a replacement SIM is sent by post, it should arrive within 2–3 working days.

We apologise again for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while you get your service restored.
