Question

want to change account holder

My current contract is in my mum's name. The contract is ending, and I'd like to keep my number and move onto a SIM-only plan in my own name. Can you help me transfer ownership of the account?

    Hi @Sjlees,

    Thanks for your post.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to transfer ownership of an iD Mobile account, and we don't support internal number transfers between iD Mobile accounts.

If you'd like to keep the number, the available options would be:

    • Upgrade the existing plan that is in your mum's name.
    • Transfer the number to another network and then, if required, transfer it back at a later date.

If your mum would like you to be able to discuss the account with us, she can complete a Third Party Access form. This would allow us to speak with you about the account, but it wouldn't allow changes to be made to the account ownership or the mobile number, this can be found here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/legal/accessibility.

I appreciate this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but I hope it helps clarify the options available.

    Regards,

Can you elaborate on the first option re upgrading here - how does this allow you to change ownership? I have the same issue transferring accounts to my son and daughter as now old enough to have their own plan. They need to keep their numbers

    Hi @alibalis.

Thanks for the follow-up. To clarify, upgrading doesn't allow you to change ownership of an account.

If your son or daughter would like to take ownership of their own mobile number, we'd suggest transferring the number out to another provider using a PAC code.

Once the number is with the new provider and in their name, they'd then be able to transfer it back to iD Mobile if they'd like a specific deal with us, and it would come across under their own account this time.

    Thanks,
