Question

Bought pay monthly with esim, already have a sim plan: how do I keep my old number?

So I've already got a sim-only plan and just bought a pay monthly with an e-sim. I figured this would just mean I don't need to use my current sim but it's given me a whole new number. I don't want a new number. How do I keep my current phone number and ditch the new esim one?

Hi @JoeAPR

Thank you for getting in touch.

I am terribly sorry as the system does not allow us to port internally. You can however transfer from a different network to our network or transfer from our network to a different network. The only way to keep your number with iD mobile is to do an upgrade from your old contract which will convert to a new one keeping your old number.

Thanks,

Hi @D338

I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the process.

I appreciate that this may not have been what you expected when purchasing your new plan. The temporary number is automatically assigned when a new account is created.

Unfortunately, iD Mobile does not offer internal number transfers between two iD Mobile accounts. The only way to keep your existing iD Mobile number is to upgrade your existing account rather than opening a new pay monthly account. As a new account has been created, it will be assigned its own mobile number and we are unable to transfer your existing iD Mobile number onto it.

If you are still within your cooling-off period, you may wish to discuss your cancellation options with our Customer Services team and explore whether upgrading your existing account would better meet your needs.

I understand this may be frustrating, and I apologise for any disappointment caused. Please use the following link to get in touch: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Thank you,
