Hi @Bridgetsteve,

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble sending and receiving text messages after transferring your number to iD Mobile.

It may be that your phone still has two SIMs configured. We'd recommend removing any SIM that you're no longer using and ensuring your iD Mobile SIM is in SIM slot 1, or, if you're using an eSIM/dual SIM setup, make sure your iD Mobile SIM is set as the primary SIM for calls, texts and mobile data.

We'd also recommend performing a network settings reset.

For iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Choose Reset Network Settings.

For Android:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General Management or System (this may vary depending on your device).
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Tap Reset Network Settings.
  5. Confirm the reset and allow the phone to restart.

Once the phone has restarted, test sending and receiving a standard SMS again. If you're still seeing messages such as Data1 or Data2, let us know the make and model of your phone and we'll be happy to help further.

Hi @Bridgetsteve

Those odd prefixes indicate that iD Mobile is sending automated, carrier-related system messages instead of the actual SMS content.
Because these system files are being pushed to your phone as standard texts, they are appearing as "Data1" or "Data2" in your conversation threads.
These messages generally pop up due to a slight software miscommunication or a temporary network glitch.

Here are a few quick steps to stop them:
Update Carrier Settings: Head to Settings > General > About. If an update is available, you will receive a prompt to install it within 15 seconds.
Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This forces your iPhone to re-register with your carrier properly.
Check Your SIM: If your iPhone has both a physical SIM and an eSIM installed, your network might occasionally get confused about which profile to route data through.

If you are still having problems receiving SMS messages from android phones then it is worth contacting the Live Chat:- (The Live Chat team are available 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday to discuss this).

 https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

When you contact the Live Chat :-

Type ‘talk to a person’ in the dialogue box and this will bypass the unhelpful chatbot.

Please be patient as the agents handle a few conversations at any one time so there will be a delay in connecting with an available agent and also any replies to your query.

Good luck x

Hi @Bridgetsteve,

That's great to hear! We're really pleased it's working now.

Yes, if the old eSIM is no longer in use, you can safely delete it from your phone's settings.

If you need anything else, just let us know.
