Delay in receiving SMS messages

I have a problem, the SMS messaging service is delayed. This is particularly a problem with two factor authentication, where the SMS message doesn't come through for 45 minutes to an hour after requesting it. This seems to be quite a widespread problem amongst ID mobile users?

Try switching your phone off for about 5 mins then switch back on. This refreshes your connection to the network. You should try and do this at least once a week.

    Hi @Blanket55 ,

I’m really sorry you’re experiencing delays with SMS, I understand how important 2-factor authentication messages are. With iD Mobile, SMS delays are usually caused by network refresh or routing congestion.

    Please try these quick steps:
Turn your phone off for 5 minutes, then turn it back on to refresh network connection.
Check that your phone has full signal before requesting the 2FA SMS.
Make sure Airplane Mode is OFF.

Sometimes I restart the phone but surely this shouldn't have to happen in order to get a text? I've noticed also that my iD Mobile phone has a delay of several minutes when moving from a wireless zone to mobile (5g/4g) - it won't pick up the mobile transmitter very quickly.

Are these issues a general problem with the iD Mobile network? It feels like iD is probably set up to be piggybacking from a more established network , and is at the back of the queue when connectivity is required?

    Hi @Blanket55,

I’m really sorry you’re experiencing this,  you shouldn’t normally need to restart your phone to receive texts. The delay when switching from Wi-Fi to mobile can sometimes happen while the phone re-registers on the network.

With iD Mobile, connectivity is provided via partner network infrastructure, not because the service is “queued” behind others.

    Please try:
Turn Airplane Mode ON for 30 seconds → OFF
    Enable Wi-Fi calling (if available)
    Set network selection to Automatic
