E-sim for travelling abroad to South America

I need to get an E-SIM for when I travel to South America. I’m not sure if my plan already is SIM only or if it includes an E-SIM. If this is the case, do I request a replacement E-SIM and activate it? Please help.

Hi @elizabeth.mcnally,

Thanks for getting in touch.

If your phone supports eSIM, you can request a replacement eSIM and activate it instead of using a physical SIM. However, your current SIM should also continue to work as normal if you don't want to switch.

It's also worth noting that roaming in South America isn't included in our Roam Free destinations. Depending on the country you're visiting, you may need to purchase a roaming add-on, while in other countries any usage would be charged against your bill cap.

If you're looking to keep costs down, we'd recommend setting your bill cap to £0.00 before you travel and using a local SIM or eSIM for data and calls while you're abroad.

If you'd like to switch your iD Mobile SIM to an eSIM before you travel, our Customer Service team via Live Chat can arrange this for you.

Regards,
