eSIM from old phone to new phone

I understand that when switching to a new phone and wishing to transfer my Esim I have to request a new QR code from ID. Is it necessary to delete the old  Esim on the old phone Before installing the Esim from the QR code on the new phone? Or can this be done after the new Esim is activated?

     Hi @Disae,

To get your eSIM onto your new phone, you can request it through our app or online account or contact our customer service team via Live Chat (https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat) or email us socialqueries@idmobile.co.uk with a description of your issue.

Please don’t delete the eSIM from your old phone, as we’ll need to send an OTP to that number to activate the new eSIM. Once the eSIM is emailed to you, you can download it, it will take about 1 hour to activate, and then your service will be fully restored.

    Regards,

Pretty sure iD Mobile would deactivate your ‘old’ eSIM when you download and install a replacement eSIM for your new phone, @Disae

That’s what would happen if you had a physical SIM and asked for a replacement.

Thanks @andewhite That’s what I’d expect too but don’t want to lose connection until the new one is ready

The old eSIM will stop working when the new one is activated.
