Question

esim number on phone isnt correct

My correct number (REMOVED) is shown on my idmobile app but my phone is still showing the original number (REMOVED) which means FaceTime won’t work. I have tried to change on the phone but it won’t let me. Do you know how to change this? Does a physical sim with the correct number solve it?

    Hi Stephen,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your number displaying incorrectly on your phone. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when it's preventing services like FaceTime and iMessage from working properly.

Please try the steps below. Before you begin, restart your handset.

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Go to Phone > My Number.
    3. Manually update the number, ensuring you replace the leading 0 with +44.
    4. Turn iMessage off.
    5. Switch your phone off completely.
    6. Wait 5-10 minutes, then turn it back on.
    7. Go back to Settings > Phone and check that My Number is showing correctly.
    8. Reset iMessage:
      • Go to Settings > Messages.
      • Toggle iMessage OFF, then back ON.
      • Once iMessage has activated, select Send & Receive and check that your correct mobile number is ticked.

Please note that it can take a few minutes for the correct number to update and display on your handset after completing these steps.

If the issue remains after trying the above, it may be worth replacing the SIM. You can visit your nearest Currys store to obtain a replacement SIM card. Please remember to bring a valid form of photo ID, as this will be required for verification purposes.

Let us know how you get on, and we'll be happy to help further if needed.

    Thanks,
