freezing and crashing new iphone 17pro max

Hi I’ve had this new iPhone 17 pro max around three months and I’ve had non stop problems with it freezing and crashing. I’m constantly having to close all my apps and open them again but it’s starting to do it where I have to reload everything 2 or 3 times. I’m not happy with this

Thanks for getting in touch I can understand how frustrating this must be, especially with a device as new as your iPhone 17 Pro Max. This isn’t the experience you should be having after only a few months I do apologise. 

 

Since you are out of the returns window you will not be able to return the handset however I can confirm you are still in warranty so you can take the handset to an Apple store or Currys store for a store technician to look into the issue. In the meantime, you can also try the below:
 

Step 1: Check for iOS updates

Please go to:

  • Settings > General > Software Update

If there’s an update available, install it.
These updates often fix freezing and performance bugs.

 

Step 2: Check storage

Go to:

  • Settings > General > iPhone Storage

If your storage is nearly full, this can cause:

  • Apps freezing
  • System lag
  • Crashes

👉 Ideally, you should have at least 5–10GB free

 

Step 3: Force restart the device

This helps clear temporary system issues:

  1. Press and release Volume Up
  2. Press and release Volume Down
  3. Press and hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears

Step 4: Check if specific apps are causing it

  • Is it happening with all apps, or just certain ones?
  • If it’s specific apps, try:
  • Deleting and reinstalling them
  • Making sure they’re fully updated
