got my daughters old phone and trying to set up with my old phone

Daughters just upgraded and given me her old phone. I’m just transferring everything out haven’t put my sim in yet. Will it work? It’s saying I need to contact ID or get a QR code? Are they easy to request? Or can I do anything myself?
