How to stop esim being deleted when I install another one

Earlier this year, I went to Korea and got an esim. My phone (Pixel 9) is compatible with dual esims. But within about an hour, my ID esim was deleted and irrecoverable. I am going to the US next week and will be using an esim. How do I stop this happening again?

I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with your iD Mobile eSIM on your previous trip.

If you're using a separate travel eSIM with a different mobile number, your Pixel 9 can support two active eSIMs at the same time, subject to network support.

When you install the US travel eSIM, make sure you don't delete your iD Mobile eSIM. Instead:

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.
Make sure both your iD Mobile eSIM and US travel eSIM are listed and enabled.
Select the US eSIM for Mobile Data.
Keep your iD Mobile eSIM enabled if you still want access to your iD number for calls or texts.
If necessary, switch Data Roaming off on the iD Mobile eSIM to prevent roaming data charges. Your Pixel allows you to choose which SIM is used for data, calls and texts.

If you're trying to have two eSIMs using the same mobile number, this wouldn't be possible, as the number can only be active on one SIM/eSIM at a time.

Most importantly, when setting up your US eSIM, choose options to add/enable the new eSIM rather than replacing or deleting your existing iD Mobile eSIM.
