i didnt give pac code on order

Hi, I've just ordered my new phone which is due today but I forgot to give the package code. When I try and log in it's telling me to enter the new number, do I wait until I get that SIM, enter the code that comes through and then request my number to change or will that be too late? I don't want to lose my number. Thank you
