Hi @Morto99,

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble receiving your WhatsApp verification code.

Just to reassure you, this isn’t usually an issue with iD Mobile itself, especially as you’re able to receive other texts and calls. WhatsApp verification codes can sometimes be delayed or blocked due to app or device settings rather than the SIM type, so switching from an eSIM to a physical SIM wouldn’t normally make a difference here.

Here are a few things you can try on both iPhone and Android:

  • Make sure your number is entered correctly in WhatsApp (with +44 and no leading 0)
  • Ensure you have signal and can receive other SMS
  • Wait a few minutes and request the code again (avoid multiple rapid requests as this can delay things)

iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers and make sure this is OFF (in case WhatsApp tries to call instead)
  • Check Settings > Messages and ensure SMS is enabled
  • Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Android:

  • Check that SMS permissions are enabled for WhatsApp (Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions)
  • Make sure no spam filter or message blocking app is stopping the code
  • Clear cache for WhatsApp (Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Storage > Clear Cache)
  • Reset Network Settings (usually under System > Reset options)

Other things to try:

  • Request the “Call me” option instead of SMS, so you receive the code via an automated call
  • Make sure you don’t have any call or SMS barring enabled on your iD account

If you’ve tried all of the above and still aren’t receiving the code, it may be worth contacting our Live Chat team here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat so they can double-check there are no restrictions on your account.

Regards,

Hi Gemma

thanks for your reply and I have sorted it out now I contacted what’s app customer service they sent me a list of possible issues it might be one of them were some settings within my what’s app on my old phone which I changed I restarted the swap process and the 6 digit code came through instantly

                            Thanks for your help 😏
