Issues with Oukitel WP100 Titan and WiFi Calling - when using SIM2, same issue with Oukitel P1 phones

Hi iD Mobile Community,

I have recently bought a rather fantastic Oukitel WP100 Titan mobile phone for me - and an Oukitel P1 for my wife. They both seem like great handsets and run Android 14 - but I see that they are not on the ‘approved’ Wi-Fi calling-compatible handset list. Whoops.

Both of the above phones have 4G and VoLTE calling capabilities but my wife and I have been really struggling to get our new Oukitel handsets to make Wi-Fi calls - something that is quite essential here, because we are a bit remote!

The Oukitel WP100 Titan is a breast of a handset (projector, camping light, 33,000mAh battery, night vision etc) and it would be great if I could get it to work using iD mobile. The iD SIM is currently in SIM 2 for the Titan as I have to use SIM 1 for my work number (no choice - on EE), and that seems to work (and will make use of Wi-Fi Calling). My wife’s P1 - the iD SIM is in SIM 1, same issue.

Both of us can receive text messages fairly easily from iD and both of the handsets display ‘VoLTE 4G’ in the notification bar. Our signal strength is circa -115dB (according to Network Cell Info App). I have set the calling preference to ‘Call over mobile network’ at the moment. if I change this preference to ‘Call over Wi-Fi’, the handset doesn’t seem to use the (strong) local Wi-Fi for Wi-Fi calling :-( The normal mobile network signal is often weak enough that we can’t make or receive calls indoors, which is a pain.

Wi-Fi calling on previous handsets worked a treat and is what we ideally would like again - if possible.

Any help or recommendations gratefully received - thanks in advance.

Andrew

Hey there @Landyandy, as the phone isn’t officially supported, we can’t gurantee it’ll work for calls or texts, or with Wi-Fi calling or VOLTE I’m afraid. Please find compatible phones below:

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Tyler,

I appreciate your reply - thanks for taking the time to get back to me. As both of our phones are BRAND NEW, it looks like unless I can get to the route cause of our issues, we may have to move away from iD Mobile - which is a shame, because I like the service iD Mobile provided, and I have a total of six mobile numbers with iD currently - for all our family, mainly because of the Wi-Fi calling functionality.

Is there anything that I can do to help get these handsets onto the iD Mobile ‘approved’ list?
I have managed to get my Oukitel WP100 Titan to make and receive calls via iD Mobile 4G VoLTE, but not Wi-FI calling.

My Wife’s Oukitel P1 has 4G and VoLTE enabled. WiFi Calling is currently set to ‘call over mobile network’ - and it will receive calls but only if there is enough reception. It often does not make calls, saying does not make any calls if you set the calling preference to ‘Call over Wi-Fi’.

What is it that these Oukitel Android handsets actually need in terms of their firmware to enable them to enjoy full functionality and Wi-Fi calling with iD Mobile? Is this something that I should encourage the manufacturer (Oukitel) or iD Mobile to resolve?

I am quite happy to assist if there is a Beta tester programme to help get it sorted :-)

Thanks again for your support - it’s much appreciated :-)

Hi @Landyandy,

Our Team are always working to add new handsets to approved list.

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that some features will work with unapproved handsets and we can’t provide a timescale for the handsets that you have to be added.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
