Question

“Keep my old number after upgrading my ID Mobile SIM”

How can I transfer my old number to my new ID Mobile SIM?

I have an existing number with ID Mobile that I want to keep. I recently upgraded my SIM to get more data, but ID Mobile has given me a new number.

My old number still appears in the ID Mobile app, but the old account seems to have been dissolved, so I can no longer make calls or send texts from the old number, or obtain a PAC code.

The new SIM and number are working fine. I simply want to transfer my old number onto this new SIM/plan.

What is the correct way to do this, given that I can’t obtain a PAC code from the old account?

    Hi @eagle1010,

Thank you for getting in touch, and I’m sorry for the confusion and inconvenience caused by receiving a new number when you wanted to keep your existing iD Mobile number.

If you received a new SIM with a new number, this would indicate that a new contract was taken out rather than an upgrade to your existing contract. I understand that your old number is still showing in the app, but you’re unable to use it or request a PAC because the old account is no longer active.

Unfortunately, our system does not currently support transferring a mobile number directly between two iD Mobile accounts. However, you have two options:

Option 1: Return the new contract and upgrade your existing account

If you wish to keep your old number on an upgraded iD Mobile plan, you can look into returning the new contract, subject to the applicable cancellation and return terms, and arranging an upgrade on your original account instead.

Please contact our Sales team, who can discuss the available options with you. You can reach them via Live Chat or by calling 0800 049 0250.

Option 2: Transfer your old number through another network

Alternatively, you could transfer your old number to another provider using a Pay As You Go SIM. Once the number has successfully transferred to that provider, you can request a PAC from them and use it to transfer the number back to your new iD Mobile plan, subject to the applicable requirements.

I appreciate that neither option is as straightforward as transferring the number directly, and I’m sorry we’re unable to complete an internal number switch for you.

We recommend contacting Live Chat so they can help you determine the most suitable option for your circumstances.
