Motorola G7 Power can't make or receive calls

Switched to iD Mobile. Kept my number. Can't make or receive calls. SIM card shows phone number as 'unknown'. SIM card appears ok when placed into another phone. My phone is a Motorola G7 Power Android 10. I've tried all the fixes I can find on this community site.

Anyone had the same issue recently and fixed it?

Hey there @IDuserxyz, thank you for reaching out. On our supported list, yes of course means it should defintiely work, and no or N/A means that it most likely won’t. However, “Capable” suggests that it may work, but we cannot guarantee that it’ll work on our network for all features, such as calls.

Therefore, it should be capable of using VOLTE and Wi-Fi calling, and making/receiving calls on our network, however, that may not always be the case, and it’s just a case of it may work, it may not. As you’ll see, there are numerous devices on the list that state they are “capable”, and they’ll all be the same as this. We can only advise that the ones that state “YES” will definitely work, and the “capable” ones may or may not.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi there @Bgood

Sooo, iDM have stated the MG7 Power is “Capable” for both 4G (VoLTE) calling and Wi-Fi calling.

For the most part their compatibility checker is either a yes or a no, therefore they’ve changed the goalposts again.

So with that said have you enabled VoLTE

Refer to the other Andorid phones (click on the learn more) and follow from step 3

Thanks @Daz_S

My phone shows preferred network as 4G/3G/2G so I assume Volte is enabled. There's no specific setting for VoLTE

No problem @Bgood

That might be an issue, AFAIK you need VoLTE enabled - I’m not sure if Motorola call it 4G calling. Give me a few mins I have a mate whom has a MG10 Play and I know I set his up for VoLTE I’ll try calling him to see what his says.

I tried. I asked where his setting is and his reply was that I set it up and thus he doesn’t know!

But he does recall seeing it as an option.

I might have gone via the motorola service engineers menu, but google might show how and where its located.

Thanks @Daz_S  Google search just sends me to sites I've already seen and tried the suggested solutions. I'll keep searching!

Hopefully a staff member can clarify their new terminology of “capable”

But more importantly this means they must have tried it out themselves and if this is the case maybe they can point you in the right direction🤞

Hi @Bgood

You may want to make sure VoLTE is provisioned on your phone by dialing *#*#4636#*#* (using the keypad in ‘calls’). This will open a secret menu so you can see if VoLTE is turned on. If it is greyed out and ‘off’ then you will not be able to enable it on this netwrok.

Looking at the iD Mobile VoLTE ‘approved handsets’ it appears as though your phone has not been tested/approved (N/A). If you have a phone that isn’t on this list, then it may or may not work, but iD Mobile don’t officially support any phones outside of these and cannot say for sure if it will or not.

This also shows if you can enable VoLTE on your phione…

Hope this clarifys things x

Please could someone explain why the Moto G7 Power appears on the compatibility list with "capable" rather than "yes"? Have contacted iD live chat who weren't able to tell me.

Have followed all the steps but VoLTE button is greyed out on the "secret menu" as described above.

So why is the Moto G7 on the list? Is it or isn't it capable of receiving 4G calls?

Thanks for your help Tyler - I think you've answered my question about the compatibility list. I think from my experience (and others here and online) the Moto G7 Power should probably be moved from "Capable" to "NO" as it's not possible to enable VOLTE calling. But thought I should double check to make sure before having to buy another phone…

Thanks again.

Hi there @IDuserxyz, you’re very welcome, and I apologise that’s the case, and also understand how it may come across as confusing on the compatibility list. Happy I could help and apologies it doesn’t work.

Have a lovely rest of your day.

Thanks,

Tyler
