moving whatsapp chat to nee phone

I used move to iOS app but at the time had temporary id mobile number. I have had switch today confirmed but no longer have my WhatsApp chat - not sure what to do

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

I'm sorry to hear that your WhatsApp chat history is no longer showing after your number transfer completed today.

In most cases, transferring your mobile number to iD Mobile does not delete WhatsApp messages. However, if WhatsApp was originally set up using your temporary iD Mobile number and then your number changed following the switch, WhatsApp may need to be updated with your transferred number.

Please try the following:

Open WhatsApp.
Go to Settings > Account > Change Number.
Follow the prompts to change from the temporary iD Mobile number to your transferred number.
Ensure you are signed in to the same Apple ID that was used during the Move to iOS transfer.
Check whether any WhatsApp backup is available by going to WhatsApp > Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.

Thank you, that is helpful as I didnt know I could do that. However, the temporary number is no longer in action anywhere and it asks for a code to be added in, so come a little unstuck.

I'm glad the information was helpful.

Unfortunately, if you no longer have access to the temporary number that's linked to your WhatsApp account, there's very little that we can do from an iD Mobile perspective, as WhatsApp manages its own account verification process.

If WhatsApp is requesting a verification code and it's being sent to a number you no longer have access to, you'll generally need access to that number in order to complete the verification.

Your best option would be to contact WhatsApp Support directly to see if they can advise on any alternative recovery options available for your account.

I appreciate that this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but hopefully WhatsApp will be able to provide further guidance.
