I'm sorry to hear about your son's phone.

If the screen is completely black, there are no icons showing, and the phone doesn't appear to charge or power on, we'd recommend taking the handset to a Currys store so it can be assessed.

Before you visit, it may be worth trying:

• A different charging cable and plug.
• A different power socket.
• Leaving the phone on charge for at least 30 minutes.

If there's still no response from the device, a store colleague will be able to inspect it and advise on the next steps.

We hope it's something simple and that the phone is back up and running soon.
