My texts use the ID generated number instead of my old number

I recently switched to ID and used a PAC to preserve my old number

I am able to send and receive calls using my prior number as well as receive texts.

However, when I send texts, they send using the number given by ID

Specifically, for some contacts I am able to switch to SMS/MMS which send with the correct number. However, for other contacts I am need to send via RCS which uses the wrong number.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S25

I have followed the advice posted here (https://community.idmobile.co.uk/your-phone-sim-26/phone-number-transfer-issues-86373) but was unable to resolve it

Hi @sansith,

Thank you for your message. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by your texts showing the temporary number.

This happens because your RCS are still registered to the temporary number instead of your newly ported one. While standard SMS uses our direct network, RCS relies on a web server that just needs a quick refresh.

To fix this right now, please follow these quick steps:

1. Clear the App Cache

  • Go to your phone's Settings > Apps.
  • Select Messages (Google Messages).
  • Tap Storage, then select Clear Cache.

2. Reset RCS Chats

  • Open the Messages app and tap your Profile Icon (top right).
  • Go to Messages settings > RCS chats.
  • Toggle Turn on RCS chats to OFF.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Go back to the RCS chats menu and turn it back ON (enter your ported number if prompted).

3. Update Phone Settings

  • Go to device Settings > About Phone.
  • Look for Phone Number or My Status.
  • If it still shows the temporary number, tap it to manually update it to your correct ported number.

Thanks,

Thank you. I was able to fix it.

After following your instructions it still used the wrong number

but I found this advice (https://community.idmobile.co.uk/ask-a-question-18/rcs-chat-still-showing-new-number-instead-of-transferred-number-67767) of stopping updates to the messenger app and then restarting the phone which worked
