Question

New customer, no service with sim, cant send/reciebe tect messages

I am a new customer and have inserted my sim into my iPhone XR.
I am unable to send or receive texts and calls.
At the top of the screw where the mobile carrier should be is a row of light grey dots.

I have created a ID account but I am unable to login as I have to verify my account via a code sent to my phone - I can’t receive text messages.

I also think my email address on the account must be incorrect as I have received no emails.

please help or I will have no choice but to close the account

    Hi @Maite4Maite4

Thank you for getting in touch with us, and welcome to iD Mobile.  I’m really sorry you’re having this trouble when you’ve just joined.

From what you’ve described (no calls, texts, or data, and no network name showing properly), it sounds like your SIM may not be fully active or correctly registered on the network yet, which would also explain why you’re not receiving verification codes or emails.

Here’s what we’ll do to help you get this resolved:

Please try restarting your iPhone XR with the SIM inserted
Check Settings → Mobile Data → Network Selection and ensure it’s set to automatic

    Thank you,

    Hi @Maite4Maite4

Could you kindly please try the following:

    Go to Settings.
    Tap Phone.
    Tap My Number.
Use the delete button to remove the old number.
Use the keypad to enter the new number.
    Tap Save.
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Messages
    3. Turn off iMessage.
    4. Go to General
    5. Reset
    6. Reset Network Settings.
    7. Once the iPhone is open.
    8. Go to Settings
    9. Messages Turn ON iMessage.
10.This will recognize the new sim and have it verified.

Please also try your SIM in another phone. This will determine whether the issue is with the handset or with the SIM card itself.
