nightmare trying to keep my old phone number

Hi, I joined last week and today I was supposed to switch to my old phone number today. But a big bad surprise awaited for me today as the old number died in my other phone but it did not transfer to the new phone. I contacted customer support and they blamed the old provider (O2) for the issue and do not know when (if?)  it will be sorted. Now, I had that phone number for many years and I had several providers and I have never faced an issue like this….I am appalled and I am already regretting having joined this provider.

Still several hours later and the issue still has not been sorted. Not sure if it is O2’s fault or id mobile but I still cannot access my old phone number and it is embarrassing. I made formal complaint to ofcom but who knows when I am going to have my phone number back….

Hi,

I am now sure if your incompetence is really that bad as I just received a message on the phone saying that the number has switched but it has not, unless you meant that it switched to the number you gave me…the number has not switched, I even turned the phone off and tried to switch it in the phone app but no luck.

- Number ports can take up until 10pm to complete. You need to be patient!

- Ofcom don’t deal with complaints from the general public.

You’ve probably caused yourself a lot of hassle with your lack of patience. You don’t want anyone messing with your account or SIM while a port is in process.

FYI - Any issues that arise as a direct result of a port is the responsibility of the gaining provider (iD Mobile in this instance).

Well, the fact that I lost phone access for most of the day is a very unpleasant situation if you need it for work or even more as in my case (and I even took the day off work for it but I still need to be reachable) and btw, still the switch has not completed apparently as unable to link it to my tablet and computer(yes for work)…

That’s how number ports work! They are not instant. 🙄

Pray that nobody has been fiddling with your account as a result of your impatience, because if they have, the port will likely fail. If you end up with a split port, you will be waiting a week or more before it gets resolved. Also, iD Mobile plans are for personal use only.
