Hi,

I had a 12 month contract that is due to expire.

I found a deal with myid and have been sent a new sim.

1) Will my number be carried over

2) will the old contract end

3) When will the new contract start for the new sim

4) How do I activate the new sim

Thank you!!!!

Hi @Edwardo Bobjim

If you’re already with iD Mobile and want to keep the number you have already with us, please ensure you’re purchasing an upgrade and not a new line, as @MZone suggests a new line would be completely separate and you’d be billed accordingly for two separate lines.

If you’re performing an upgrade, you’ll keep the same number.

Did you do this as an upgrade or as a new connection? If you did it as a new connection you will be billed for 2 connections.

I have just purchased a phone with iD mobile and have just been sent my eSim to download but have not yet done so, can I use my existing micro sim card in my new phone, the number is still the same.

Hi @Junior1959

Thank you for getting in touch with uu.

Since you have already been issued an eSIM but have not activated it yet, your physical SIM should continue working as normal until the eSIM is activated. Once you download and activate the eSIM, it will replace the physical SIM on your account.

If you would prefer to continue using your existing physical SIM instead of the eSIM, please let us know before activating the eSIM so we can ensure your account remains set up correctly.

Thank you,

Zandile

Thank you for the reply.

I have received my new phone and have inserted my physical sim and everything is working fine, I intend to carry on using this instead of downloading and activating the eSIM, I assume this is ok. If I do activate the eSIM, would I be able to alternate between the 2. Many Thanks.

Roger.

If you’ve upgraded, your current SIM will stop working once you activate the eSIM.

Hi @junior1959

Once you activate the eSIM, your physical SIM card will no longer work. This is because your number can only be linked to one SIM at a time.

You can choose to use either an eSIM or a physical SIM card, but it isn’t possible to have both active on the same number simultaneously.
