please unlock my Nothing 2 phone

I bought the nothing 2 phone and it turns out it's locked so I can't put another SIM inside. This was very frustrating because I was going to Japan and these phones don't have e Sims so I wanted to put another SIM in and currys they told me I couldn't.

They said they can't unlock it until my contract ends. My contract has ended can I please have this phone unlocked?

@Jakathey I can definitely tell you that the Nothing Phone 2 doesn't come locked nor do any phone's buy networks for a few years now. I personally ordered this same phone on IDMobile when it first got released and still using it with IDMobile sim and EE sim.

Where did you buy your handset?

I went into Currys and they said it's locked and they said you guys unlock it

The Nothing phone 2 was released in 2023, years after UK networks stopped locking handsets. Where did you purchase it from?

@Jakathey The device is locked or Blocked there is a difference.

The only Nothing device's that were locked from the factory were one's ment for the Indian market. These needed a sim card from any Indian network while in India to be unlocked. All other market areas came sim free in other words unlocked to take any sim card.

In relation to the handset being locked iD mobile does not lock handsets to the network and you can use any network sim in the handset.
