I have iPhone 13 and 16 with sim’s installed. WiFi calls are set up but when it is used people we call often says the line is breaking up. I have read this could be due to a network setting. Can I have some help?

Hi @Melton

We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with Wi-Fi Calling on your iPhone 13 and iPhone 16, especially with calls breaking up during conversations.

Wi-Fi Calling quality can sometimes be affected by network settings, Wi-Fi stability, or how the handset is registering the call over the network. Please try the following troubleshooting steps on both devices:

  • Restart both the handset and your Wi-Fi router
  • Ensure iOS is fully up to date:
    • Settings > General > Software Update
  • Confirm Wi-Fi Calling is enabled correctly:
    • Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling > Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone
  • Toggle Wi-Fi Calling OFF for 2 minutes, then back ON
  • Forget and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network:
    • Settings > Wi-Fi
    • Tap the “i” next to your network
    • Select “Forget This Network”
    • Reconnect again

Please also try:

  • Disabling VPN services if any are active
  • Testing calls on another Wi-Fi network if available
  • Moving closer to the router during a test call
  • Turning Wi-Fi Assist OFF:
    • Settings > Mobile Service > Wi-Fi Assist

A Network Settings Reset can also help refresh the connection:

  • Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
  • Reset
  • Reset Network Settings

As the issue is affecting both devices, it may also indicate instability with the broadband/Wi-Fi connection itself rather than the mobile network alone. If possible, testing the calls on another Wi-Fi network would help narrow this down further.
