RCS texts. cannot clear old number

I changed my number due to harrassment . ID mobik sent me a new number and I cannot get rid of the old number in Google messages or RCS chat. I have tried toggling RCS chats to off , using airplane mode and then logging RCAlS chats back on. Also tried re staring phone several times.

Is there a way to get the new number working ?

    Thank you for getting in touch, and I’m sorry to hear you’re still seeing your old number in Google Messages / RCS after changing your number. I understand how important this is, especially in cases of harassment.

    RCS and Google Messages can sometimes retain the old number due to cached settings or because the RCS profile has not updated correctly on Google’s servers. I can help you get this resolved.

    Please try the following steps first:

    1. Update your number in Google Messages

    Open Google Messages

    Tap your profile icon (top right)

    Go to Messages for web

    Tap Settings

    Tap Chat features

    Tap Device phone number

    If it still shows your old number, select Reset chat features
