Samsung Galaxy S25 lost sim card after Samsung Ui 8.5 update

Ive had my Samsung Glaxy S25 after an update in April 2026.

Its been absolutely great….until the update Ui 8.5

Since I updated the phone immediately stopped recognising the SIM card.

the phone got incredibly warm, apparently this is normal when the phone searches for a SIM card on a loop and cannot find it…...

After speaking to many ID agents I was told to get a new SIM card and after about an hour all was good.

A few weeks later I decide to clear the phones cache as it was a bit sluggish with some apps and restarted the phone last week

Again the phone immediately didn't recognise the SIM card and thus had no text messaging or calls, except through wireless.

After speaking to countless ID agents, some of which were pretty bad, I decided to switch on airplane mode for an extended period and I notice the phone recognised my SIM card and the mobile phone number again but obviously can't use the sim for texts or calls.

I was told they would send me an E Sim but after several failed attempts the gave up and notified complaints

After my issue being sent to ID complaints a fantastic guy called Brian run through several scenarios and asked me to try another SIM card which ultimately didn't work.

After searching many forums it seems that the Samsung UI 8,5 update is a phone killer and Im unsure of what to do next.

Ive only had the phone 4 months and don't have another

Hi @AndyRichards200676

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing with your Samsung Galaxy S25 following the update, especially as you've only had the device for four months.

We appreciate the detailed troubleshooting you've already completed and understand how frustrating it must be to repeatedly lose service whenever the device is restarted. It's also great to hear that Brian from our Complaints Team was able to assist and explore various troubleshooting steps with you.

As you've already tried a replacement SIM, eSIM attempts, and extensive troubleshooting without resolution, this does suggest the issue may be related to the handset itself rather than the SIM card or network service.

We recommend taking the handset to your nearest Currys store for inspection. Their team will be able to assess the device and advise on the next steps available to you.

Alternatively, you can contact Samsung directly, as the manufacturer may also be able to provide further support or arrange an inspection under the device warranty.

Thak you,

Zandile M

Thank you for your response.

Ive already taken it to Currys when it first happened and they couldn't see an issue.

I assumed that as my contract is with ID Mobile that ID Mobile would look at my phone,I cannot be without a phone as I am an emergency contact. If I send to Samsung it could be away for quite a while
