Hi,

I,m about to upgrade my iPhone. I know I have to request a QR code to move the esim over.

My question is do I do the transfer of all the data and settings from old iphone to new iPhone first and then request the new esim?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi @justaskin

Yes, when upgrading your iPhone, it’s generally best to transfer your data and settings to the new device first, and then request your new eSIM on the new handset.

📱 Recommended order

  1. Set up your new iPhone
  2. Transfer your apps, data, and settings from the old iPhone
  3. Once setup is complete, request the replacement eSIM via the iD Mobile app
  4. Scan/activate the eSIM on the new device

📲 How to request a replacement eSIM in the app

  1. Open the iD Mobile app
  2. Go to My Account
  3. Select SIM & Device
  4. Tap Replace SIM / Switch to eSIM
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to request the eSIM QR code

⚠️ Important

Please only request the eSIM once. Submitting multiple requests can cause activation issues or delays with your service.

💬 If you have any issues

If you’re unable to request the eSIM through the app, or the activation does not complete successfully, please contact:

They’ll be able to assist you further with the activation process.
