Yes, when upgrading your iPhone, it’s generally best to transfer your data and settings to the new device first, and then request your new eSIM on the new handset.
📱 Recommended order
- Set up your new iPhone
- Transfer your apps, data, and settings from the old iPhone
- Once setup is complete, request the replacement eSIM via the iD Mobile app
- Scan/activate the eSIM on the new device
📲 How to request a replacement eSIM in the app
- Open the iD Mobile app
- Go to My Account
- Select SIM & Device
- Tap Replace SIM / Switch to eSIM
- Follow the on-screen instructions to request the eSIM QR code
⚠️ Important
Please only request the eSIM once. Submitting multiple requests can cause activation issues or delays with your service.
