Sim has disappeared

Hi, I have a Google Pixel phone. I am travelling at the moment and clicked the option to 'turn off SIM card'. I thought this would prevent me from using data while travelling. However, there is no option to turn on my SIM and I have no signal at all. 

Any ideas how to 'turn on my SIM card' again? Thank you

    I am having exacting same problem as original poster with bot my physical SIM and an esim I am using while traveling aboard. Please help as neither are working
