Switching from physical SIM to eSIM

Hi there, I’ve seen a few threads about switching from the iDMobile eSIM to iDMobile physical SIM, but can’t find one telling me how to go about doing it the other way round (or even if it’s possible).

I dropped my new phone two days after getting it and now the phone can’t find the physical SIMs. (Tried everything from rebooting, re-installing the SIMs and resetting network settings.) So I’m hoping switching to eSIM will mean I don’t need to buy yet another new phone!

Thanks a lot for any help!

Neil

Thanks a lot MZone. That pointed me in the right direction. For anyone coming to this topic, here’s how it’s done:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app or log-in to My Account Online.
  2. Tap ‘Plan’.
  3. Scroll down if necessary and tap Your SIM/eSIM.
  4. Tap "Request a replacement SIM or eSIM.
  5. Tap "Get a replacement eSIM".
  6. Follow the instructions provided on screen (which are simple).
  7. Using the phone you want the eSIM on, make sure you’re connected to the internet.
  8. On the same phone, scan the QR code sent to you by WhatsAppSIM by email.

The eSIM will then install automatically. Be patient. Installation could happen quickly but you'll still need to wait a few minutes for the number to be recognised and hooked up. You’ll receive several SMSs and the last one should state that your new SIM is now active.
