unable to receive international sms

I recently transferred my old phone number to id mobile on an iPhone 17 and it was a nightmare as the transfer took several hours and my old phone number stopped working for many of these so that I had no access to the number for almost 8 hours. Afterwards there were still issues as I was unable to access to FaceTime and iMessage and could only receive sms while connected to wifi. Nevertheless, finally all these issues have gone away. However, there is still a remaining problem as I am unable to receive international sms and this is a serious problem for me for a variety of reasons. I contacted my provider and asked for a sim replacement (I am currently on a eSIM) but not sure it will sort the problem. Any advice?

I would advise to check your settings and number on the handset.

Were you able to receive international SMS before you switched handsets?

On the old number (the other provider) I definitely could receive them. Never used the temporary number with id mobile I am not sure but everything else seemed to work (unlike the transferred number until yesterday). Number on the handset (if you mean phone number) is definitely correct and I am not sure what you mean by settings (but I can send but not receive international sms)…

Thank you for clarifying that. Since you can send international SMS but cannot receive them, it sounds like the porting process may not have fully completed for incoming messages.
Here are a few steps you can try:

-Restart your device – This refreshes the network connection.
-Toggle Airplane Mode for a few seconds and then turn it off.
-Check Message Centre Settings – On most devices, this is under SMS settings. Ensure the Message Centre number matches iD Mobile’s (usually +447782000800).
-Remove and reinsert your SIM card – This can help re-establish the connection.
-Test in another location – Sometimes local signal can affect SMS routing.

Hi, sorry for late reply but I had to work.

that is what I tried: I restarted the device as well as set up the airplane mode but neither move helped. In my iPhone it is not possible to access the message settings in the message centre settings but under mobile services in settings, the number is correct. I cannot remove the SIM card as the phone is on eSIM (but I should receive soon a replacement sim card). Finally, not sure what you mean by testing in another location as unfortunately I cannot leave the country at the moment. I toggled off the location services but still no luck with that….
