I’m not sure I want to upgrade my phone just yet, and thought about changing my sim only for now as I’m out of contract. If I did this and then decided at a later date to upgrade my phone would I pay more than just upgrading my phone now with sim. Has anyone else done this ?

Hi @Coletteb,

Yes, you can absolutely move to a SIM only plan (normally 24 days before your account expires) and then upgrade your phone later if you change your mind. A lot of customers do this for flexibility.

In terms of cost, it usually works like this:

If you upgrade your phone now, you may get a better bundled deal depending on current offers
If you switch to SIM only first, you’ll typically just pay for the SIM plan, and then when you upgrade later, you’ll be starting a new phone deal at whatever offers are available at that time

So there isn’t a fixed “penalty” for waiting, but prices and promotions can change over time — meaning it could be cheaper now than later, or vice versa depending on offers.

If you’d like, our Sales Team can also talk you through both options side-by-side to help you decide what works best for you on 0800 0490250.
