USB tethering with ID Mobile, Android.

Hi there all,

 

I am trying to USB tether my Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G to my laptop.

 

I have enabled it on my phone, installed Xiaomi USB and tethering drivers from their website, added APN type "dun" under access point settings on the phone.

 

I have also tried different USB ports and restarted both devices.

 

Despite this, my laptop does not get any "ethernet" or ethernet via "NDIS based internet sharing device". In other words, only the hotspot works and not the USB tethering.

Solved!

 

I was using an "aftermarket" cable to connect the phone to my laptop.

 

Switched to the original charging cable and USB tethering now works.
