I have a number blocked that I wish to not receive phone calls or texts from however they are leaving me voice mails. This has been going on for months and I don’t want any contact from this phone number. Can this be changed ?

    Hi @Freyanicole

I understand why this is frustrating, especially if you’ve clearly blocked the number and still don’t want any contact from them.

Please note that iD Mobile cannot block a specific caller from leaving voicemail messages on your voicemail service. The only way to not get voicemails from the person is to turn off voicemail feature entirely.

I’ve got the same problem, constant silent messages, you’re not telling me in this day and age they can’t block them from leaving messages

    Hi @Headonastick.

Thank you for your post. I completely understand the frustration here; you've done what you can on your end by blocking the number, so it feels like there should be a way to stop them reaching your voicemail too.

The reason this isn't possible comes down to how voicemail actually works on mobile networks. When you "block" a number, that block applies to calls and texts hitting your phone directly. But voicemail runs as a separate service in the network, when a blocked caller dials your number, their call is diverted straight to the voicemail system before it ever reaches your handset, so the block never gets a chance to apply. The network has no way to check "is this caller blocked on this person's phone" before routing to voicemail.

Therefore, a considerable option is to turn off the voicemail feature entirely.

    Thanks,
